Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains what information civilsociety.su (“we”, “the site”) collects when you visit, why, and the choices and rights you have. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

Who we are

Civil Society is an independent reference website about civil society, CSOs and NGOs, reachable at our contact page. For privacy questions, email [email protected]. This site is the data controller for the processing described here.

What we collect

  • Information you send us — if you email us, we receive your address and message. We use it only to reply and to handle your request.
  • Technical data — like most websites, our servers and our providers automatically process limited technical information (such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and approximate region) to deliver pages, keep the site secure and understand aggregate usage.
  • Cookies and advertising data — see “Cookies and advertising” below and our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Cookies and advertising

We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and, with your consent, to personalize them based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you.

  • By default, before you choose, we instruct Google to serve non-personalized ads (consent for personalization is set to “denied”).
  • Our cookie banner lets you accept personalized advertising or reject it. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.
  • You can also review and control Google’s ads at Google My Ad Center and opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
  • For third-party vendor cookies, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Consent — for personalized advertising cookies and any non-essential cookies.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, secure and improve the site, and to respond to your messages.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data may be processed by service providers that help us run the site (hosting and content delivery) and by Google for advertising, each under their own terms. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Retention

We keep email correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request. Aggregate technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics. Advertising cookies expire according to the terms of the provider that set them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Some providers (including Google) may process data outside your country. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the transfer mechanisms offered by those providers.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above shows the current version.
